Fibreglass Concepts EK65 Powercat

Catatac, the EK series 65' powercat is the third vessel and second catamaran designed and built by Fibreglass Concepts. With the experience of several projects behind them, Fibreglass Concepts capitalised on the knowledge gained and designed a boat that represents a new generation in the Ekman series. With sleek lines and a distinctly aerodynamic aesthetic, the EK65 has the X factor.

Engineered by High Modulus and constructed using the latest high tech materials, Catatac is lightweight, strong and extremely economical, with her displacement hulls giving great stability at sea. The EK65 features sleeping accommodation for 10 people with private bathrooms adjoining the forward cabins. The galley is ample for the discerning chef yet remains practical for the game fishing crew. The fly bridge area has seating for 12 or more and features a seamless view through the pillarless toughened glass screen.

An ideal platform for game fishing or a family getaway, the EK65 steps up top speed with twin Caterpillar engines to 23 knots, while cruising at 17 knots.

All of this made for a comfortable journey across the Tasman in the spring of 2008 when Catatac was sold to an Australian businessman who found exactly what he was looking for in the EK65. Catatac continues to be enjoyed and admired on Australia's Gold Coast.
